Lesson Payment, Cancellation and Makeup Policies
​
At Nieves Music Studio, we understand that life can get complicated. We also know that successful and fulfilling musical studies depend on regular commitment. That’s why we’ve designed our policies to give you as much flexibility as possible while still promoting consistency.
Our teachers reserve time on their schedules, plan for your lessons, and invest in the long-term development of each student. To provide regular, quality lessons, the following policies need to be observed.

Duration of Lesson Agreement - Ongoing
​
The lesson agreement between Nieves Music Studio and student is a rolling agreement that continues into each new term and new year.
Timetabling & Changes
​
The student will be informed of the lesson day, time and the date of their first lesson before their teaching commences, either by phone, in person or by email. Nieves Music Studio will aim to confirm all the lesson details by email, but does not guarantee that this will be the case if it deems sufficient confirmation has been provided by other means.
Group Class Membership Tuition
​

Tuition is billed once per-session. Trials are billed separately.

Membership auto-renews into the next session until student un-enrolls.

Upon auto-renewal, tuition is billed automatically to your credit card or bank account at the start of the next session.

New enrollees will be billed prior to their first billable lesson and payment must be received in order to reserve lesson space. Your space is not reserved until payment is received.

A $10 late fee will be charged for session payments received over 14 days after payment is due.

All payments are automated using recurring Credit Card billing. (AutoPay)

Class spots may be forfeited if tuition is over 2 weeks late. Since all payments are automated, lateness occurs when a payment is declined. Notification of a declined payment will be sent and billing information must be updated promptly through the Nieves Music Studio student portal.

Tuition for students enrolling later in the session will be adjusted or prorated.

Credit card payments are accepted online through Stripe payment processor.

No refunds, credits or discounts will be given once tuition is paid.

Students are responsible for additional costs associated with educational materials, music books, instrument rentals, accessories, etc...
Attendance & Lateness

Students are expected to be punctual to their classes. Students who are late for a class will not receive their full class time.
​
Groups Classes - Missed Classes/Lessons & Credits
​
-
NO tuition credit or refund will be provided for missed classes/lessons.

Nieves Music Studio does not offer in-person make-up lessons.

Cancellation notice must be submitted through Student Portal.

It is the responsibility of the Parent and/or student to contact Nieves Music Studio to give notice of missed lesson.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL, TEXT, or CALL your teachers private number for cancellations.

If Nieves Music Studio cancels any lessons due to events out of its control, customer credit may be given at the discretion of Nieves Music Studio management.

Substitutions
​

You may decide to change teacher or instrument with a 14-day advance email notice of class renewal. (Subject to teacher availability)

If your current teacher is unable to teach a lesson, a substitute teacher will be arranged.

If a substitute cannot be arranged, a discount will be credited to your account for the following sessions tuition.

Regular lesson cancellation policy applies for lessons with substitute teachers.

School Holidays and Inclement Weather Cancellations
​

The studio is closed for Winter Break, Spring Break, Memorial Day, July 4th (Independence Day), Labor Day, and Thanksgiving.

We do not follow the school calendar for days off (M.L.K. Day, Columbus Day, Presidents Day, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, etc…). Any missed lesson on one of these scheduled days will need to be cancelled with at least 24 hour notice in order to receive video make-up lesson.

In the event of an inclement weather cancellation, you will be notified of a studio closure. Lessons cancelled due to inclement weather will be held virtually or a curated lesson and practice plan will be uploaded to their account.

We do not follow the school district’s cancellations for inclement weather.

Membership Cancellation

Membership may be cancelled by the 20th day of the month by emailing us at office@nievesmusicstudio.com.

Cancellation will be effective at the end of the session. You may withdraw the cancellation at any time before it takes effect, but your teacher and/or time slot can not be guaranteed for the following session.

Membership is not transferable.

Nieves Music Studio does not provide tuition refund under any circumstances.

Nieves Music Studio reserves the right to terminate membership, in which case prorated tuition will be refunded.

Care of Students
​

Nieves Music Studio is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students.

Students under 18 years of age who do not drive themselves to lessons, must be picked up by legal guardian promptly after end of lesson.

Pick-up by any adult other than the student’s legal guardian requires prior notification to the teacher.
Parking & Waiting Room

Nieves Music Studio clients may wait in our waiting area or in their cars. Parents of younger students may come in to take a tour of the Lessons Studio but must wait in the waiting area or their vehicles for the duration of the class. (Exceptions made on a case by case basis for younger students)

Transition Time
1. Up to 5 minutes of transition time is allotted at the beginning and end of each class. ​
2. In cases where the teacher would like to discuss lesson details or other pertinent student information with parents/guardians, the teacher may end the lesson earlier than 5 minutes in order to meet with parents/guardians.

Ongoing Absences
​
1. If a student will be absent for more than three weeks due to medical reasons, a credit may be given, at the discretion of Nieves Music Studio management.
2. We consider any absence longer than 6 weeks as a cancellation of lessons, even if for a long holiday, and standard re-enrollment rules apply.
Sickness
​
Customers and staff will be asked to refrain from coming to lessons if in any way unwell during any government mandated restrictions. No refund or credit will be given if a student is not attending or asked to leave if at all unwell.
Injuries
​
You assume all risk of injury or harm to the child(ren) or adult(s) associated with participation in musical activities at Nieves Music Studio and agree to release, indemnify, defend and forever discharge Nieves Music Studio and its officers and staff from all liability, claims, demands, damages, costs, and expenses in the unlikely event of injury sustained by your child(ren) or adult student during the course or as a result of their participation in related musical activities.
Class Cancellation
Nieves Music Studio reserves the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment. Every effort will be made to make these decisions as early as possible, however cancellations may take place up until the third week of enrolled classes (not including trial classes). In this case, all registered families will be notified and given the option of another class time. If switching to another class is not possible, we will either credit you for another session or offer a prorated refund of your tuition.

Photo/Video Release
​
Unless requested in writing, Nieves Music Studio is granted permission to take photographs/videos of the students to use in brochures, websites, posters, advertisements, and other promotional materials Nieves Music Studio creates. Permission is also hereby granted for Nieves Music Studio to copyright such photographs in its name.

Disclaimer
​
Nieves Music Studio reserves the right to refuse service to any person(s) at any time.
Policy effective upon enrollment in 1st lesson (trials and special offers included). Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Policies & terms are subject to change.
